Illustrated Talks

Learn more about the New Forest

Our experienced education team can provide a variety of illustrated talks about many topics linked to the New Forest, or the New Forest Centre. These talks can be adapted to suit all ages and interests.
Talks are usually supported by a PowerPoint presentation and sometimes include a chance to look at and handle objects bought from the museum itself.  They last approximately 45 minutes and are lively and informative.

Subjects covered include:

  • General New Forest - a quick guide to the New Forest's history, culture and how it works
  • New Forest History - a more in depth guide to the New Forest's unique and exciting past.
  • The New Forest Centre, The Unknown Charity -an introduction to the New Forest Centre from its inception as a charitable trust to its present role in the community.
  • New Forest Commoning - a more in depth guide to the New Forest's commoning way of life, its traditionals and the struggles it faces today.
  • New Forest Centre Millionaire Quiz - a talk aimed at younger people ending in a Millionaire Quiz game.

Talks can be held at the New Forest Centre or we can come and visit you at your own venue.  We have our own presentation equipment if it is needed.

If you visit the Centre for your talk and wish to include a visit to the Museum, normal Museum charges apply.  Prices for the sessions can be found on the Group Visit Prices page.

If you have any queries please contact the education team or to book a visit please follow the instructions.
