Room Hire

Use the New Forest Centre for meetings and events

There are two purpose-built classrooms on our first floor which is served by a lift.  Easily accessible disabled toilets can be found on both the ground and first floors, as well as an additional ladies toilet on the ground floor.

Please contact us in advance to check room availability before completing a Room Hire Booking Form

The completed form can be returned by email or post in order to secure the booking.

ROOM HIRE DETAILS AND CHARGES

  • Room hire is normally available from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday.  A 9am start is possible by prior arrangement, with access via the rear door.
  • Bookings for out of hours or weekends may be possible by agreement with the Centre Manager.
  • Provisional bookings must be confirmed by the hirer within 14 days.
  • An invoice will be raised after the booking; payment terms are 30 days.
  • No refund will be given on cancellation of less than 14 days’ notice
  • An over-run penalty of £20.00 per hour or part thereof will be invoiced to hirers, subject to the Museum's discretion.
  • The Museum reserves the right to alter the above charges without notice. Please check the prices at the time of booking.

1. JACK HARGREAVES ROOM

This is a purpose-built classroom situated on the 1st floor and can be set-up in either theatre style to seat up to 30 people, boardroom style to seat up to 16 people, or cabaret style to seat up to 20.   The room is carpeted and has black-out blinds.  A lift provides access to users with mobility problems, including wheelchair users, and there is an accessible toilet on the 1st floor.

We can provide the following equipment which is included in your hire charge.

  • Flip chart & pens
  • Laptop and data projector on two-tier stand (projection is onto a pale flat wall)

There are no IT facilities but power is available in the room.  We are situated in Lyndhurst’s main Pay & Display car park. Please choose your room layout here.

2. BARKER-MILL FIELD STUDIES ROOM

This room provides a meeting space for smaller groups and activities.  It can comfortably seat 12 people boardroom style or 25 theatre style with scope for adapting the layout to suit different activities. The room has a work bench with illuminated electric magnifiers, a white board, black-out blinds, a wipe clean floor and a sink.  It is ideal as a base for Forest forays.

The Barker-Mill Field Studies Room is situated on the 1st floor of the Museum. A lift provides access to users with mobility problems, including wheelchair users, and we have an accessible toilet on the 1st floor.

We can provide the following equipment which is included in your hire charge.

  • Flip chart & pens
  • Laptop and data projector on two-tier stand
  • Projector screen
  • Free WiFi

We are situated in Lyndhurst’s main Pay & Display car park.

3. EVENING USE OF COMPLETE GROUND FLOOR OF BUILDING

It is possible to hire the New Forest Gallery plus the New Forest Museum and Gift Shop for a preview event or reception evening – please contact us to discuss.

Refreshment Choices

The New Forest Centre does not have the facilities or staffing levels to provide a full refreshments service for room hire groups.  We can, however, provide tea, coffee and biscuits for each hire session and a small kitchenette on the first floor can also be made available for your use, if required.

You will need to make your own arrangements if you require a catered lunch to be delivered to the premises.

We can provide an electric pump pot for hot water, mugs, and glasses and you can bring your own drinks to serve your delegates.

Option 2

We can provide refreshments and invoice you afterwards per head.  An electric hot water pump pot, plus mugs and glasses etc will be provided in the room.  You can choose from a combination of:

  • Tea and Coffee (one session)

  • For tea/coffee (2 or more sessions)
