Visit the New Forest Centre
Groups of all ages are welcome to make use of the facilities and experiences that the New Forest Centre has to offer. We can provide opportunities for children from Key Stage 1 (4-7 year olds) up to Key stage 4 (15-16 year olds).
Our education staff can provide a range of sessions tailored to the interests and needs, both physical and educational, of your group.
Our sessions cover New Forest History, New Forest Habitats, Commoning and Human Impact on the New Forest.
You can choose between a selection of half day sessions held either at the Museum or out in the Forest, or one of our outreach sessions. We are happy to discuss adapting any of our sessions to suit you and your group.
All sessions are run by one of our experienced education team.
The education sessions offer opportunities to enliven the learning journey with interactive resources including photos, maps, museum artefacts and costumes. This will encourage your group to think creatively about the New Forest National Park and their role in it.
We have a variety of activities available for groups to use within the Museum to get the most out of your visit, including quizzes, puzzles and detective challenges.
If you wish to bring your group to the centre for a Self Guided session then allow for about an hour to wander through the Museum which is full of fascinating facts and displays illustrating the history, wildlife and management of the New Forest. Activity and colouring sheets are available at the beginning of the Museum along with clipboards and pencils if required.
For all our sessions we recommend that group leaders make a free planning and risk assessment visit where the exact requirements for your group can be discussed.
Prices for the visits offered can be found on our Group Visits Prices page. The prices quoted are our basic prices. Please contact the education team to dicuss any discounts that may be available.
