A day of walks and activities in and around the New Forest Centre and the historic Queen's House for the whole family.

Find out all about the New Forest ponies and make your own Hobby Pony!

See the Verderers' Court or join in a guided walk onto the Open Forest and find out about the traditions and wildlife of the Forest and much more.hobby pony RH

Admission to the Museum will be FREE so come along and join in our fun children's activities and find out about the National Park.

Also, for this day only, children can ride FREE on the New Forest Tour Bus.

This is a joint event with the New Forest National Park Authority and the Forestry Commission.

  • Free entry to Museum all day
  • Hobby Pony making (£2 each, to cover cost of materials)
  • Pony/branding activities with representatives from the New Forest Pony Breeding and Cattle Society and the New Forest Pony Publicity Group
  • New Forest Marque
  • National Park Authority Rangers with Mobile Unit and Marquee
  • Special appearance by Pete the Pony!
  • Children ride for FREE on the New Forest Tour Bus

Queen's House gardens will be open and will include:

  • Pony Picnic area
  • Hobby Pony Pound
  • Hobby Pony reflective collar making workshop

BOOKABLE ON THE DAY:

  • Free guided walk The Story of the Open Forest 11.00 -12.00 and 13.00 - 14.00
  • Short talks in the Verderers' Court at 12.00 and 14.30
Booking General - Not required
However, please note:
The guided walk and talks in the Verderers' Court are FREE but places must be booked on the day.
Cost FREE entry to the Centre and Museum.  A small charge of £2 covers the materials for each Hobby Pony.
Age All ages welcome
Dogs Not suitable for this event, except guide dogs
Bus Bluestar 6, New Forest Tour Bus (children go free on New Forest Tour)
Accessibility The Centre is fully accessible.
Walks onto the Open Forest and Queen's House are uneven.
